1
teaspoon
baking powder
1/2
teaspoon
salt
1/3
cup
unsalted butter
softened
3/4
cup
warm water
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add the softened butter and mix with your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the warm water, stirring until the dough comes together. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes, until smooth.
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball. Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 10 minutes.
On a floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle, about 8 inches in diameter.
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each tortilla for 1-2 minutes on each side, until bubbles form and golden spots appear.
Brush with melted butter if desired and serve warm. Store leftover tortillas in an airtight container.
Notes
These buttery tortillas are versatile and can be used for wraps, tacos, or as a side to soups and stews. They can also be frozen for up to a month.
