Crispy Air Fryer Tofu Nuggets

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu pressed and cut into chunks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¾ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup unsweetened soy milk

Instructions
 

  • Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Cut into chunks.
  • Prepare three bowls: one with soy milk and apple cider vinegar (let sit for 5 minutes), one with cornstarch, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with spices, nutritional yeast, and oil.
  • Coat tofu pieces by rolling in cornstarch, dipping in soy milk mixture, rolling in cornstarch again, dipping in soy milk, and then coating with breadcrumb mixture.
  • Preheat air fryer to 350°F (180°C). Arrange tofu nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with oil.
  • Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 8-9 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, ensure breadcrumbs are gluten-free. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
