Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 lemons peeled and seeds removed
  • 7 cups filtered water
  • 1.5 inch turmeric root peeled; or 2 teaspoons turmeric powder
  • 1 inch ginger root peeled; or more to taste
  • 12 peppercorns
  • 1/4 cup coconut nectar or 6 dates, optional, for sweetness

Instructions

  • Using a sharp knife, remove the peel from the lemons and discard any seeds. Add the peeled lemons to a high-powered blender or food processor.
  • Peel the turmeric and ginger roots, then add them to the blender along with the peppercorns and your chosen sweetener (coconut nectar or dates).
  • Pour in the filtered water.
  • Blend the mixture until completely smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
  • Serve chilled over ice.

Notes

If using dates to sweeten your lemonade, be aware that the bright yellow color may become slightly darker. This lemonade can be customized by adding fruits like blackberries, raspberries, cucumber, strawberries, blood oranges, or even a jalapeño for an extra kick.
