  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs low-sodium or made from unsalted bread
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup unsalted tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted ketchup for topping (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, black pepper, and unsalted tomato sauce. Mix until just combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape it into a loaf. Spread the unsalted ketchup on top, if using.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
