Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 10 red chili peppers stems removed
  • 3 cloves garlic peeled
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano dried
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the chili peppers, garlic, onion, ground cumin, oregano, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the peppers are softened.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  • Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor. Add the white vinegar and salt. Blend until smooth.
  • Strain the blended sauce through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl to remove any solids.
  • Pour the hot sauce into a sterilized glass bottle or jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

This homemade Mexican Hot Sauce is customizable—adjust the number of chili peppers for your desired level of spiciness. It’s a great condiment for tacos, burritos, eggs, or soups!
