  • 1 large avocado ripe, mashed
  • 4 ounces smoked salmon
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice freshly squeezed

  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese optional
  • 1 teaspoon capers optional, for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill chopped, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Toast the slices of whole-grain bread until golden brown.
  • In a bowl, mash the avocado with a fork and mix in the lemon juice. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • If using, spread cream cheese on the toasted bread slices.
  • Spread the mashed avocado evenly over the toast.
  • Top each toast with slices of smoked salmon. Garnish with capers, fresh dill, or additional black pepper as desired.
