  • 3 cloves garlic minced

  • 1 cup cranberries fresh or dried
  • 1 medium bell pepper diced
  • 1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes

  • 2 cups chicken broth or turkey broth

Spices & Seasonings

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • to taste salt and black pepper

Optional Additions

  • 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup to adjust sweetness
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper for added heat

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until translucent and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  • Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the diced bell pepper and cranberries. Add chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the spices to become aromatic.
  • Pour in the diced tomatoes (with juice) and chicken broth. Stir in the black beans.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld and the chili thickens.
  • Taste the chili and adjust seasoning as needed. If desired, add honey or maple syrup for sweetness or cayenne pepper for extra heat.
  • Serve hot, garnished with your favorite toppings, and enjoy with cornbread, rice, or tortilla chips.
